Anglian Water to set aside £28 million to help customers pay bills
Over 300,000 households will get extra support
Anglian Water has announced that it will set aside £28 million specifically to help people in the region who are struggling to make ends meet.
The company is continuing to extend its financial support to those who are falling behind as the cost of living continues to rise.
In total, over 300,000 households will be able to receive added support about their water bill, including other ways to pay.
While families with young children and those who are suffer with hearing, sight and learning difficulties take priority, Anglian Water are hoping to rollout support to more people.
It comes as Anglian Water unveils a £680 million investment into environmental protection through removing harmful chemicals in the region.
As well as this, the company will look to reduce the number of leaky drains which cause dangerous contamination in local waterways.
Customers will also be part of the change, with an added £31 million being used to upgrade water meters in the area, so households can save both water and money.
Speaking about the new investment programme, Anglian Water’s Director of Customer and Wholesale, Pete Holland said that anyone who is struggling to pay the bills should get in touch for support.
“Whatever the circumstances, our message to customers is simple: if you’re struggling, please get in touch. The sooner we talk, the sooner we can help. And not only with your water bill, our Extra Care team can also signpost you to other support that you may be entitled to," he said.
“This is the biggest investment we’ve ever made in a 12-month period and it comes at an incredibly challenging time for everyone. Our customers can be reassured that we invest every pound in doing the right thing now and for the long term. We believe our responsibility is to them, their communities and to the environment we look after.”
