Almost 1,000 Covid-19 fines issued in Essex
Figures have been released by the National Police Chiefs' Council
Essex Police have issued almost 1,000 fines for coronavirus breaches since last March.
According to data from the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), 961 fixed penalty notices were issued between 27 March 2020 and Valentine's Day this year.
Across England and Wales there were 68,952 issued in total.
The highest number of fines issued in Essex was for breaches of tier restrictions at 464.
Eight were handed out for gatherings of more than 30 people, and 19 for face covering breaches.
