The A12 northbound is shut because of a police incident.

All traffic is reportedly being held near Junction 32a at Capel St Mary.

Essex Police have confirmed they were called at around 4.40pm today (24 March) "following a report of suspicious activity from within a moving lorry on the A12 northbound at junction 25".

A spokesperson for the force added:

"It was reported to us that someone may have been in the rear of the lorry.

"Officers directed the lorry to stop on the A12 at the Suffolk border where the road was closed while a search was conducted.

"We did not find anything suspicious."
