600 Witham homes affected by gas outage
Cadent have apologised for any inconvenience
CADENT say they are working to restore gas to 600 homes in Witum
There's been an outage there since last night in the Electus way, King Edward Way and Hatfield road area
Cadent say about 60 engineers have been on site this morning since 8am
Their priority is getting the gas back on but that means getting round to every house and making sure their gas is switched off - before any work can be carried out safely.
About half of the homes were visited yesterday and the rest will be visited by engineers today.
So they're asking people to stay at home and wait for an engineers.
If they're not able to then - don't panic - an engineer will re-visit until Every home has their gas off.
They're sorry for any inconvenience and say they hope to have gas for some people back on by tomorrow.
There has been a Customer Centre at Witham Leisure Centre (Spinks Ln, Witham CM8 1EP) set up.
Teams will be on hand until 10pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 8am-4pm.
In addition, showers will be available for any affected residents.
