40% of Covid-19 fines unpaid in Essex

97 of the 240 fines issued went unpaid in the county

Just under half of fines issued for breaching coronavirus rules have gone unpaid in Essex.

The figures on the Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) have been obtained by PA and count for fines that went unpaid between March 27 and September 21.

In Essex 97 of the 240 FPNs issued went unpaid, working out at just over 40%.

28 FPNs, or just under 12% were rescinded in the same time period.
