In 2020, Essex's RNLI teams were called out 360 times.

Teams saved 24 lives as part of those runs last year and the charity says that wouldn't be possible if donations didn't keep coming in.

Graeme Richardson, RNLI Area Lifesaving Manager North & East Region, said:

"Our volunteer crews continue to respond to call-outs 24/7 despite the pandemic, whilst observing strict COVID-19 safety procedures.

"As a charity we rely on public support and donations and this generosity enabled us to continue to save lives at sea during a busy 2020.

"We really can't thank people enough and their support remains more vital than ever during these ongoing challenging times."
