18-year-old girl dies in car accident in Essex
Police are appealing for witnesses
An 18-year-old girl has died in a car accident in Essex and police are appealing for witnesses.
Essex Police were called to the Pitsea flyover shortly before 2:30pm on Saturday (1 July) to reports of a serious collision involving one vehicle.
A passenger of the car, an 18-year-old girl sadly died at the scene.
The four occupants of the car remain in hospital, two of them are in a critical condition.
Police assisted colleagues in from Essex Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service and the road underneath the flyover had to be temporarily closed due to dangers around debris falling.
The A13 was closed for a number of hours but reopened around 11pm last night (Saturday 1 July).
Detective Sergeant Sam Nason from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said “This was a tragic collision, and our thoughts are with those involved.
“We are continuing multiple enquiries this morning including speaking with witnesses and reviewing CCTV and dashcam.
“We believe there were a number of witnesses, many of whom helped those involved. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or have any CCTV or dashcam to get in contact.”
