16-year-old arrested after fireworks set off in car in Brentwood

The incident last month caused damage to two cars and a property

Essex Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with an ongoing arson investigation in Brentwood.

The force received reports of a firework being set off in a vehicle in Brentwood on Rayleigh Road on October 14th.

It caused damage to two cars and a nearby property.

On Saturday (4 November) a 16-year-olld want arrested by police, he remains in custody.

Chief Inspector Tina Cooper said “This was a dangerous incident which caused a lot of damage and could have seriously injured someone.

“The investigation has remained a priority and last night, one of our officers made a proactive stop and arrested a boy in connection with this investigation.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and we would like to thank the members of the public who have supported with this investigation so far.”
