There was a brand new reality TV show which had everybody hooked in 2023, in the form of Channel 4 series Rise and Fall. Brought to us be the makers of the hugely-successful BBC show The Traitors, the new season certainly didn't disappoint.
However, despite the success, bosses have now chosen to axe the series, leaving fans gutted.
Has Rise and Fall been axed?
On Sunday 28th January, news broke that Channel 4 bosses had decided to axe the series, with a spokesperson for the show telling Metro.co.uk: ‘Rise and Fall was a great show that we were very proud of and attracted strong audiences, but Channel 4 is all about the new and we want to make space for the next great new reality idea.
‘We would like to thank Greg and the talented team who made such a hugely fun and innovative show.’
Now we know the show, hosted by Greg James, won't be returning, here's everything you need to know about series one, from cast members to the winner.
What is Rise and Fall?
Rise and Fall is a reality TV show which aired on Channel 4 in early 2023. The show was created by the makers of hit BBC series The Traitors, and it had viewers hooked!
The series is a game about what it takes to get to the top, how to win power, how to keep hold of it, and how to use it to influence others.
Channel 4 say of the plot: 'Sixteen ordinary British people, from all walks of life and ages, will begin the game as equals but soon find themselves either in a position of power as a Ruler or as part of the powerless as a Grafter. While the Rulers live in an opulent penthouse, the Grafters must survive in basic conditions in the basement. And much like life, those in power will be responsible for making decisions that affect those who have none.'
When was the final of Rise and Fall?
The final episode of series one aired on Thursday 13th April 2023, where one ruler was awarded with a prize fund of £85,610.
Who won Rise and Fall?
During the final on Thursday 13th April, 27-year-old Edmund was crowned the winner, after being picked by his fellow grafters.
Edmund, or Eddy as we know him, spent most of the series a 'Grafter', working and living in the basement.
When did Rise and Fall start?
The first ever episode of Rise and Fall kicked off at 9pm on Sunday 19th March, immediately after The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.
When was Rise and Fall on TV?
From Sunday 19th March, Rise and Fall aired every night between Monday-Thursday, with the final taking place on Thursday 13th April.

Although the opening episode of Rise and Fall aired at 9pm, all other episodes air at 10pm Monday-Thursday.
