Following the news that Netflix are working on a film about the Eurovision Song Contest, starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams as Icelandic musicians Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir, another member of the cast has been announced.

Mamma Mia! and James Bond star, Pierce Brosnan has now been added to the cast and will star as Erick Erickssong, Lars' father. Netflix also revealed that Pierce will play the 'most handsome man in Iceland'!

Pierce Brosnan

Although not a huge amount is known the film, it is currently in production in the UK and Iceland. The plot follows Lars and Sigrit who are given the opportunity to represent their country in the annual competition.

Of course the real Eurovision Song Contest, which launched in 1956, has been the starting place for a number of well-known singers, including ABBA - who won in 1974 for Sweden and CĂ©line Dion who won in 1988 for Switzerland.

Pierce starred in last year's Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which was very popular, featuring many of ABBA's iconic songs, many of which will be covered in Cher's second ABBA covers album, as we reported yesterday.
