Filming for After Life season 3 is underway - as confirmed by Ricky Gervais on Instagram earlier this week when he shared a photo of himself holding a clapper board that read Slate 1, Take 1 with the simple caption, 'Action!'

But we also have the news confirmed by someone else, who has announced themselves as a brand new cast member for season three - Kate Robbins, a comedian, actress and singer who many will recognise from Dinnerladies, Phoenix Nights and Crossroads. She's also the mum of TV star Emily Atack!

Taking to her own Instagram profile, Kate confirmed that she was joining the cast for the third and final season, sharing a photo of herself with Ricky Gervais and the caption, 'I’m so pleased to announce I’ve joined the amazing cast of #Afterlife3 First day filming with @rickygervais and what a laugh it was!'

Celebrities and fans alike flocked to the comments to share messages of congratulations to Kate for landing the gig, with the likes of Tamzin Outhwaite, Keith Lemon, Chizzy Akudolu and Emma Barton all applauding the casting choice.

Meanwhile, Ricky has been sharing updates from the set to his own Instagram, including a snap of himself in a fit of laughter alongside castmate Tony Way, who plays photojournalist Lenny on the show.

Although we don't yet have a release date for the third and final season of After Life, which could mean that we might potentially see it drop on Netflix towards the end of this year.

Ricky previously spoke about the show airing at the end of 2021, telling Lorraine in February, "Everything going well, we film in April and May and then it takes a few months to edit and then it takes a couple of months to put into a 160 languages. So, I'm hoping it will air by the end of the year."
