What are the signs of heatstroke in pets?
There's a few things to look out for in your dog or cat which could mean they are suffering from heatstroke. See the early signs below, as well as the severe signs.
Early signs:
Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
Increased heart rate
Bright red gums or tongue
Drooling more than usual
Mild weakness or lethargy
Restlessness or agitation
Moderate to severe signs:
Vomiting or diarrhea, possibly with blood
Staggering or uncoordinated movements
Collapse or inability to stand
Seizures
Unresponsiveness or confusion
Body temperature over 104°F (40°C)
