Simple Minds reveal tracklist for live album 'Live in The City of Diamonds'

Scottish rock band Simple Minds announced a new album called 'Live in The City of Diamonds' last month and they have now revealed the tracklist featuring many of their huge hits. The new offering completes the band's triptych of the Live in The City series, which dates back to 1987 and includes 'Live in the City of Light' (1987) and 'Live in the City of Angels' (2019).

The band announced the exciting news on social media, describing what is in store for fans, writing: 'The new album Live in The City of Diamonds, out April 25th 2025. Listen to the first track ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ now.'

They continued: 'Recorded at a sold-out Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, this release captures the band on stage in front of 17,000 people and completes the triptych of the Live in The City series dating back to 1987.'

What formats is the new album available on?

In the social media post, the band wrote: 'The album will be available on multiple formats:

• 24-track, 2CD media book with 24 pages of exclusive photos and tour notes

• 18-track, double clear/glitter vinyl in a gatefold sleeve

• 18-track, double black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve

• Digital download and streaming'

In the caption on Instagram, Jim is quoted as saying: "All we wanted was to be in ‘a great live band’ and to spend our lives taking our music with us around the world. Decades later we still relish that challenge every night on tour. Live in The City of Diamonds captures both the spirit and fever of Simple Minds live at this moment in time."

If we have that moment of inspiration, we just pile in and we create as quickly and as practically as we can. 'Private Dancer' was nominated for album of the year at the 1985 Grammys, and 'What's Love Got To Do With It' and 'Better Be Good To Me' both won Grammy Awards.

Brandi Carlile and Elton John

Elton John and Brandi Carlile have announced a collaborative album called 'Who Believes In Angels?', the duo have already released the title track from the album. The album features 10 tracks and was written in just 20 days following Elton's final tour in 2023.

The Waterboys - 'Life, Death and Dennis Hopper'

The Waterboys announced details of their 16th studio album called 'Life, Death and Dennis Hopper' in January 2025. The Doobie Brothers - 'Walk This Road'

The Doobie Brothers with the new reunited line-up of Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnston, John McFee and Michael McDonald, announced they would be releasing a 10 track album called 'Walk This Road'. On the day the band announced the album in January 2025 they also released two songs 'Walk This Road' featuring Mavis Staples, and 'Call Me'.

Madonna has revealed she will be re-releasing her 1994 album 'Bedtime Stories', which featured 'Secret', 'Take A Bow', 'Bedtime Story' and 'Human Nature'. She has not yet revealed when it will be released, but she said it would be available on vinyl.
