Legendary Oasis and Liam Gallagher guitarist Bonehead has announced he’s cancer free.

The 57-year-old musician – real name Paul Arthurs – first revealed he was battling tonsil cancer in April and he took a hiatus from touring with Liam Gallagher over the summer while he received treatment.

In May, Bonehead commenced his chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and he regularly gave fans updates on Twitter about his battle.

On 29th September, Bonehead shared the fantastic news that he’s been given the all-clear by doctors.

He wrote: 'Update on my cancer; I had a full scan 10 days ago and it’s all clear, it’s gone. Thank you so much all of you for the messages I’ve had throughout, you’ve helped more than you know.

'Thank you especially to the team at @TheChristieNHS, into recovery now and see you all soon x'.

Liam Gallagher was one of the first to congratulate Bonehead, writing: 'YES BONEHEAD WE KNEW YOUD KICK ITS AR-E SOOOOO F---ING HAPPY GUINNESS LG x'.(sic)

The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess wrote: 'A quick stop off in Dubai. And I just saw this incredible news! Sending love to @BoneheadsPage and all his friends and family. @thecharlatans all send their love too. See you when we get back. Tim x x'.

Many fans also chimed in, commenting their congratulations on the Twitter post. One fan wrote: 'Awesome news mate, so happy for you and your family. Now is the time to rest up, recover and move onto the next fantastic stage of your life. Looking forward to seeing you back on stage 😊❤👍🏻🍻', with another adding: 'The news we have all been waiting for. We hope to see you back with your guitar as soon as possible.All the best🍀👏'.
