Slade legend and certified national treasure Noddy Holder says he still shouts: "IT’S CHRISTMAS!" at his sleeping wife Suzan every Christmas morning, after more than 30 years.

Noddy and Suzan Holder appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning (12th December) to talk about a charity raffle Noddy has donated a sculpture to, which is raising money for the East Cheshire Hospice.

This exclusive sculpture of Noddy wearing his iconic mirror hat on Top of the Pops was created by artist Patty Callaghan after being specially commissioned by Noddy and Suzan.

During the BBC Breakfast chat with Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty, 78-year-old Noddy admitted he still shouts: "It’s Christmas!" with the "same gusto" as his Slade prime.

Suzan told the presenters: "Every Christmas morning, that’s how he wakes me up. Seriously. It’s been 30 odd years and I’m still (makes twitching gesture)."

When a "ho-ho-hoing" Noddy quipped: "The years have flown by", Suzan added: "If you think it’s loud on the record, or you hear it in the supermarket, imagine on the pillow when you wake up or are asleep!"

She then added: "It’s actually a cup of tea first. He does put a cup of tea down and then he does it."

Noddy continued: "I wake the whole house and the neighbours. Yeah (It’s a once-a-year thing). Only Christmas Day! (Suzan) twitches for an hour."

Asked by Charlie Stayt to shout his Slade festive catchphrase, Noddy said: "Everybody asks me (to) but I’m not allowed (on TV) when I’m signed to people to do it adverts every year. But I can give you an equivalent. But I can’t do the ‘It’s Christmas!’ because... I get wrist smacked."

Showcasing his astonishing vocal prowess, Noddy then shouted a deafening: "MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!"
