Madonna apologises for saying 'are you ready Boston?' at Toronto concert – watch
She made the clanger over the weekend
Madonna apologised to fans at a recent show in Toronto after she mistakenly addressed them as “Boston.”
The Queen of Pop played two shows in Boston last week as part of her blockbuster multi-year 'Celebration Tour' before hitting Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena last Thursday and Friday (11th and 12th January).
At the second Toronto gig on Friday, Madonna made the clanger of addressing the wrong audience when she shouted “Are you ready Boston?!” at the start of the concert before quickly correcting herself.
Later in the gig she addressed the slip of the tongue, saying: “Are you guys mad at me cause I said ‘Hello, Boston!’?
“I’m sorry. What kind of f---ed up s--- is that? That would be like if you guys were saying, ‘Hey, Lady Gaga’s playing tonight!’”
“I wouldn’t like that. I mean, you know, nothing against Lady Gaga. Love her. I do! I love anyone shorter than me.”
You can watch the incidents below. Warning: Both videos contain swear words.
Madonna continued The Celebration Tour with a homecoming show at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit with her 92-year-old father Silvio in attendance.
Fortunately she didn’t mistake Detroit for another city and told the 13,000-strong crowd: "I hope you're proud of me, Detroit! Because I care about what you think, and I want you to be proud of me."
Madonna’s extensive North American tour continues in Montreal on Thursday (18th January) and runs until late April when she plays a five-night residency at Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City.
