'Running Up That Hill' could get Kate Bush another week at Number 1
'Running Up That Hill' was released in 1985
Last week, Kate Bush's 'Running Up The Hill' reached Number 1 in the UK, 37 years after it was released, thanks to the popularity of Stranger Things. Now, it looks like the song could be Number 1 for another week!
According to The Official Charts Company, Kate Bush's 1985 song is still performing well in sales and streams, meaning that it probably won't be moving from the top spot this coming Friday, when the chart is announced.
'Running Up That Hill' has been given a new lease of life after it was featured heavily in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, which was released on 27th May, with the volume 2 being released on 1st July through the streaming service.
As well as reaching Number 1 nearly four decades after it was originally released, it has also become the most streamed song on the planet!
In a statement about the song's inclusion in the series, Kate said: "The Duffer Brothers have created four extraordinary series of Stranger Things in which the child actors have grown into young adults.
"In this latest series the characters are facing many of the same challenges that exist in reality right now. I believe the Duffer Brothers have touched people’s hearts in a special way at a time that’s incredibly difficult for everyone, especially younger people."
She continued: "By featuring ‘Running Up That Hill’ in such a positive light – as a talisman for Max (one of the main female characters) – the song has been brought into the emotional arena of her story. Fear, conflict and the power of love are all around her and her friends."
Kate then said: "I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving, and it’s all happening really fast, as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force. I have to admit I feel really moved by it all. Thank you so very much for making the song a number one in such an unexpected way."

To help sell the show, the Duffers edited a mock 'trailer' combining clips from over 25 feature films, including E.T., Nightmare on Elm Street, Super 8 and Halloween.

The composers of the Stranger Things soundtrack (Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon) were two members of an Austin synth band called SURVIVE; their music was featured in the soundtrack of the film The Guest.

Winona Ryder wanted her hairstyle modeled after Meryl Streep's hair in Silkwood.

The title sequence was inspired by the work of Richard Greenberg, who designed a number of classic 80s title sequences including Alien, Altered States, Superman and The Goonies - which starred a young Sean Astin, who later appeared in Stranger Things as Joyce's boyfriend Bob Newby.

For some of the laboratory scenes, Millie (Eleven) was fully submerged in an underwater immersion tank. She was able to breathe by wearing a Sea Trek helmet, which weighs approximately 70 lbs above water; it weighs 15 lbs beneath the surface of the water. The helmet was designed for shallow 'underwater walking'.

To direct Millie while she was underwater, the Duffers communicated with her through a small radio in her ear.
