Greatest Hits Superstars was a weekly documentary celebrating the greatest artists and their stories, all to a soundtrack of their Greatest Hits.

In the last episode on 2nd January 2022, we celebrated the incredible music created by several talented British artists, including Queen, Wham!, and Annie Lennox. We played the biggest songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s from a range of amazing musicians.

Greatest Hits Superstars was on-air every Sunday from 4pm. Mark Goodier now plays Weekend Anthems and The Smash Hits Chart Show on Sunday afternoons.

We heard about playing in America for the first time, the joy of hearing his first hit song on the radio, the fights and creativity in The Police, the art of song writing, and working with Stevie Wonder.

Simply Red

This episode featured conversation with Mick Hucknall from the archive. He discussed the origins of Simply Red, their early hits, and their run of huge success in the early 90s!

George Michael

From Wham! to solo superstar, George Michael was a musical great who made history with songs like 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me' and 'Careless Whisper'.

Bee Gees

We celebrated the music of the Bee Gees on this week's Greatest Hits Superstar! With huge, era defining tracks like 'Stayin' Alive', 'More Than A Woman' and Disco classic 'Night Fever', you won't want to miss it!

The Rolling Stones

We celebrated the incredible career and discography of legendary rockers The Rolling Stones after the sad death of their iconic drummer Charlie Watts on Tuesday 24th August.

Bryan Adams

We celebrated the amazing Bryan Adams! He has enjoyed huge international success with hits like 'Summer Of '69' and 'When You're Gone'.

Amy Winehouse

We celebrated the incredible life and music of the late Amy Winehouse.

Wet Wet Wet

Scottish rock sensations Wet Wet Wet were our Greatest Hits Superstars for their incredible music that brought them worldwide recognition and was in the charts throughout the 80s and 90s.

Paul Young

80's sensation Paul Young was one of our Greatest Hits Superstars, and we looked back at his time as a frontman for several bands including Kat Kool & the Kool Cats, Streetband and Q-Tips, as well as his solo career.

Culture Club and Boy George

We celebrated the wonderful music from both Culture Club and frontman Boy George's solo career. The talented group won BRIT Awards for Best British Group, and Best British Single for 'Karma Chameleon' in 1984, and Boy George went on to make nine solo albums after the band's split.

Freddie Mercury: 30 Years On

We marked the anniversary of Freddie Mercury's sad passing with a celebration of his life in a special edition of Greatest Hits Superstars, 30 years to the day we lost him.
Along with playing his incredible music, we where told his story with the help of his family, Brian May, Roger Taylor and the man himself.

Nile Rodgers

We celebrated the incredible guitarist, singer and producer Nile Rodgers. Nile is the founding member of the band Chic which brought out hits like 'Le Freak' and 'Good Times'.


Nile has also worked with lots of big names on a number of tracks including 'We Are Family' by Sister Sledge, 'Let's Dance' by David Bowie, and 'Like A Virgin' by Madonna.

Holly Dolly Christmas Special

For a special festive edition of Greatest Hits Superstars we had music legend Dolly Parton join us to talk about her career and Christmas as well as play her greatest hits.
