George Michael 'joins' TikTok with an official account
As if 2020 couldn't get any weirder...
TikTok is fast becoming the social media platform of choice amongst musicians and it seems that even those who have sadly passed away such as George Michael, Prince and John Lennon are some of the latest to join the video platform.
Of course it isn't the actual artists, however their estates and labels have joined TikTok, allowing their music to be available as part of the platform, along with an official account recently being set up for George Michael.
So far with only three TikToks, the account has under 1000 followers, but we're pretty sure it won't be long before the popularity of George on TikTok takes off. The account also follows just two accounts, TikTok and Sony Music UK.
Already, a video blending together a clip from the 'Fast Love' music video and Boris Johnson, has been shared attracting more than 72.9K views.
Announcing the news, George's official Twitter account shared details of the new collaboration saying, 'Finally George Michael’s music has arrived on @tiktok_us @tiktok_uk ! Follow here: https://smarturl.it/GeorgeMichaelTikTok Celebrating George's incredible career, sense of humour, heart and individualism.'
TikTok has become increasingly popular over the last year, with Mick Fleetwood recently joining TikTok to recreate the viral Fleetwood Mac 'Dreams' video. TikTok user Nathan Apodaca posted a video that saw him skateboard around the streets of his native Idaho while sipping cranberry juice and singing along to Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 ‘Rumours’ anthem ‘Dreams’.
Mick Fleetwood then joined TikTok to post a parody of Nathan's famous video.
Writing “@420doggface208 had it right. Dreams and Cranberry just hits different”, Mick Fleetwood’s version sees him sip cranberry juice and sing along to ‘Dreams’ while traversing the roads of the idyllic English countryside. Unsurprisingly, the parody video has also gone viral with over two million views.
