Who'd have thought, 51 years after its original release, Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer' would be given another lease of life when it was re-recorded with pop icon Britney Spears.

The new song, 'Hold Me Closer', has been hugely popular since its release in August, and now, Britney has celebrated its success, by sending Elton an out of this world present!

Posting a photo of the lovely gift, Elton wrote: 'Thank you @britneyspears for the fabulous rocket salt and pepper shakers!! 🚀🚀 David and I love them ❤️❤️ #HoldMeCloser'.

The photo shows two rocket-shaped salt and pepper shakers, and as fans will know, the rocket is featured in a lot of the promotion around Elton and Britney's new song. We first saw the rose and rocket emoji used in the initial announcement of the song name, it was then used in subsequent posts, all the way through to the official audio on YouTube.

Speaking about their collaboration, Elton said: "I am absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to work with Britney Spears. She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and she sounds amazing on this record. I love her dearly and am delighted with what we've created together."

Britney also said before the song's release: "I was so honoured when the incredible Sir Elton John asked me to join him on one his most iconic songs. We are so excited for the fans to hear it! Thank you, Elton, for having me! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you and your legendary mind."

Will Elton John and Britney Spears perform together?

We're still hoping for a performance from the two iconic singers, but before the song's release, Elton surprised fans at a restaurant in Cannes, France. The singer surprised diners when he got up to play part of his new song.

He introduced the song over the microphone saying: "Britney Spears, Elton John 'Hold Me Closer', here we go!". While the song played he even sang along to his parts, which also allowed on-lookers to hear Britney's vocals during the song's chorus.

The performance was filmed and shared on Elton's Instagram page with the caption: 'Sneak peak of Hold Me Closer - out this Friday 🌹🚀'.
