Dolly Parton is known as a legendary country singer, with hit songs like '9 To 5' and 'Jolene', but she's now ventured into the rock genre on her new album 'Rockstar'. The decision to make a rock album was prompted by her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Despite initially withdrawing herself from the shortlist, Dolly later chose to accept the nomination and was inducted officially on 5th November 2022, saying: "Now I’m in the Rock Roll Hall of Fame. So I’m going to have to do a rock album at some point."

On the day of the album's release, Dolly took to her socials to share the exciting news. She told her fans: 'I can’t tell you how proud I am of the ‘Rockstar’ album and I can’t tell you how happy I am that it’s finally here to be released! I really had a wonderful time working with all these iconic artists on the record and all these iconic musicians. Not to mention all these great iconic songs that I think everybody will love hearing again. I just hope you enjoy my version of them! #Rockstar is OUT NOW! 🎸❤️‍🔥'.

Before the album's release, Dolly appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon saying: "I’m a rock star now. When they said they wanted to put me in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, I always thought that was for people that spent their whole life working to be in rock ’n’ roll.

"You know, you don’t see Led Zeppelin in the Country Music Hall Of Fame – although they could! But anyway, I found out it was more than that. So when I realised what it was, I said, ‘If they put me in anyway, I would certainly accept it gracefully’ – which I did."

She continued: "I'm making an album because I have to live up to all that hype. I even wrote a song about it (‘Rockin'') to kind of tell the story about it. But anyway, I’m very honoured and very proud. I’m good about timing. I’d always thought I might want to do a rock record – because my husband is a rock ’n’ roll freak – so I thought, ‘Well, if I’m ever gonna do it, now’s the time!’"
