The last couple of years have been great for Bruce Springsteen fans, not only was the Disney+ documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band released in 2024, but in 2025 a new BBC documentary film about The Boss was released called When Bruce Springsteen Came To Britain.
Now it's the turn of the big screen, with Bruce Springsteen's early career told through the release of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, a biopic starring Jeremy Allen White as the singer and Stephen Graham as his father. The movie was released on 24th October, the same day that 'Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition' was released. Find out more about the film below.
What is it about?
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is a film adaptation of Warren Zanes’ fascinating telling of the making of The Boss' 1982 'Nebraska' album. The album was created after Bruce's 1981 'The River Tour', which was a pivotal time in his life, which he only opened up about decades after the album's release.
The album was recorded by Bruce in his New Jersey bedroom on a four-track recorder, without The E Street Band, and included songs such as 'Atlantic City' and 'Open All Night'.
Who plays Bruce Springsteen?
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere stars Jeremy Allen White as The Boss. Jeremy joined Greatest Hits Radio to chat about the film, where he revealed how he researched playing such an iconic musician.
He told Simon Mayo: "I watched a whole lot of footage on Bruce and saw that (his pose), but that happens naturally. I think, what I know is Bruce gives himself fully over to the music, to the audience and so that kind of like lean… I don't think he was like finding that stylish or comfortable or any of that, I think that's something that naturally happens when you're kind of giving yourself over to something else. And I think that's what Bruce does every time and so that's, you know, that's what I was trying to do as well."
The film was directed by Scott Cooper, who has worked on Crazy Heart, Hostiles, and Antlers. He said of production starting: "Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey.
"Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’ has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honouring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.
"It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon (Landau) as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey. As well, I’m excited to reunite with my friend, David Greenbaum (president, Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios), as he embarks on his new role at Disney, adding another layer of inspiration to this project."
Who is in the cast?
Along with Jeremy Allen White as The Boss and Stephen Graham as his father Doug, the cast includes:
- Jeremy Strong as Bruce Springsteen’s long-time confidant and manager Jon Landau
- Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech, Mike Batlan
- Odessa Young as love interest, Faye

Is there a trailer?
Several trailers were released ahead of the film, the most recent and final trailer was released on Monday 13th October. The two-minute trailer shows Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, following the making of The Boss' 1982 album 'Nebraska'.
Fans get to see Jeremy as Bruce take to the stage, performing in front of hundreds of fans, while also working on his album 'Nebraska' in his bedroom.
Jeremy told Greatest Hits Radio that Bruce Springsteen was there for the filming of the scene he is performing on stage, he said: "I didn't have to use very much imagination, you know, and that was one of them, singing ‘Born to Run’, this big arena in New Jersey, real musicians all around me, I'm the only pretender.
"Bruce was there that day, introduced me, got the crowd all warmed up. I just had to go out on stage and really try to exhaust myself as Bruce does and that was easy that didn't take very long."
