Music legend Bruce Springsteen is set to return to Broadway this Summer for a limited run of his Springsteen on Broadway shows.

The ‘Dancing in the Dark’ hitmaker’s autobiographical production is based on his 2016 memoir Born to Run. The acclaimed show comprises of a series of stories accompanied by songs which match the theme of the tale or one of Bruce’s life events.

Springsteen on Broadway will commence on 26th June 2021 at the St James Theater and finish on 4th September 2021.

The New York Times reported that “audience members will be required to show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination along with their tickets to enter the theatre. Entry times will be staggered, and attendees will be required to fill out a Covid-19 health screening within 24 hours of the show.”

Springsteen on Broadway hit the stage in October 2017 and ran for just over a year until December 2018. The Boss earned an honorary Special Tony Award for the production, which grossed around $108 million across 236 performances.

The show has since been adapted into a film which premiered on Netflix and a soundtrack album was released.

Prior to the production’s initial performance in October 2017, Bruce said in a statement: “I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theatres, which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind.

“In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years.”

The very first showing of Springsteen on Broadway was dedicated to Bruce’s good friend Tom Petty, who died two days before the show began it’s first run.
