Phil Collins' daughter shares heartfelt message on his 71st birthday
The actress told him 'I will always need you'
'In The Air Tonight' singer, Phil Collins celebrated his 71st birthday over the weekend and amongst the birthday messages that were shared was a beautiful heartfelt message from his daughter. Lily Collins, who is currently starring as the lead role in the Netflix hit Emily in Paris, took to Instagram to share a photo from when she was a toddler, sitting on her dad's shoulders.
Lily wrote: 'Happy birthday, Dad. I may no longer fit in your arms or sit comfortably on your shoulders but you continue to hug me tightly when I need it most. We may not get to spend time together that often but when we are face to face, you really do see me.'
The Emily in Paris actress continued: 'You may not always believe it but please trust me when I say, no matter how old I get or what life may bring, I will always need you. Whether I’m proudly watching you up on stage, laughing at home together playing trivial pursuit, I’m forever grateful for the moments and memories we share.'
The 32-year-old finished: 'Especially the ones I now cherish as an adult myself. Thank you for inspiring me and supporting the woman I am today. I love you to the moon and back again…'
Lily's husband, Charlie McDowell - a film director, also wrote on Instagram: 'Love you both! HBD Phil'.
Although Phil hasn't shared anything on Instagram since last year, fans have also been leaving messages on his latest post from May 2021. One fan wrote: '🙌🙌🙌HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY 71TH BIRTHDAY MR PHIL COLLINS!!!!❤️🎂🎂🎂🎂🥳🥳🥳🌹🎵🎶' with another writing: 'HAPPY BDAY YOUVE ALWAYS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO ME'. (sic)
