Last night, one of the biggest nights in the film industry took place - the Academy Awards, affectionately known as the Oscars. And, Elton John, along with his longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin, picked up an award for Best Original Song.

'(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again' featured in Rocketman, the biopic about Elton John, was performed in the film by Targon Egerton, in the film which was a box office hit. The Oscar for Best Original Song is just the latest accolade for the song to receive, as it has already won a Golden Globe, a Critics' Choice Award and a Satellite Award.

Elton took to the stage at the Oscars to perform his hit, playing a beautiful red grand piano, backed by a band and singers.

Speaking about his win, Elton thanked his longtime collaborator saying, 'This Oscar is for Bernie. Without him, I’m nobody, He started the journey and we’re still together after 53 years. This film has taken 12 years, and in the end we got it made the right way. I’m so thrilled for Bernie because I love him so much.'

For those who missed Rocketman, it was based on a 'true fantasy', and was an epic musical fantasy about Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film followed the music icon's journey of transformation from a shy piano prodigy real name Reginald Dwight, into the international superstar we know today.
