A teenager has died following a head-on crash involving a car and a lorry.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the A801 in Falkirk at around 6am on Monday.

The 19-year-old man was driving a blue Ford Fiesta which was travelling northbound on the road between Bowhouse Roundabout and Avongorge, and was involved in a head-on collision with an articulated lorry heading south.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the lorry was not injured but was left deeply distressed by what had happened.

Officers are appealing for information about the crash.

'It is imperative we establish the full circumstances'

Sergeant Paul Ewing said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen either of the vehicles to contact us.

"It is imperative we establish the full circumstances of how a young man died.

"If anyone has any information or has any dash cam footage which could assist our investigation, please pass it on.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0508 of August 7 2023."

The road was closed for several hours after the crash for collision investigations at the scene.
