Police will use stop and search powers in parts of Edinburgh on Bonfire Night.

The force is anticipating disorder and firework-related offences in Moredun, Niddrie and Gracemount on Tuesday night.

It follows bricks and fireworks being thrown at officers and public transport on Halloween.

Police Scotland officers will be using a Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

This allows them to stop and search people and vehicles to identify any dangerous instruments or weapons, if they believe there is a possibility of serious violence or disorder taking place.

If you have any information or concerns about firework related criminality in your area, please contact us via 101, Contact Us or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
