Masked man shows off weapon before carrying out 'completely unprovoked' attack in East Lothian

The assault happened in Lewisvale Park on Sunday night

A man wearing a balaclava has carried out a 'completely unprovoked' attack on another man in East Lothian.

The victim, 31, was in Lewisvale Park on Sunday around 7.05pm when approached by the thug who brandished a weapon and assaulted him.

He suffered a hand injury but did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect is around 6’ to 6’ 3” inches tall, he was wearing a black zip up hooded top, black trousers, and white Nike Air Max trainers. He was also wearing a black balaclava with a red emblem on the forehead area.

Constable Gareth McDermott from Musselburgh Police Station said: “This appears to be a completely unprovoked attack on the victim.

“The area was busy with pedestrians and dog walkers, and we would appeal to anyone who was in Lewisvale Park around 7pm on Sunday evening to come forward.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2930 of 17 March, 2024."
