Former Glasgow University student to talk about using her pain to change the law
Ellie Wilson campaigned to get university applicants to declare violent criminal charges after being raped by her ex-boyfriend.
A social justice campaigner is meeting with students in Glasgow later to explain how she changed the law after being raped.
Ellie Wilson won a battle to get applicants to declare any violent criminal charges when going to university.
She told Greatest Hits Radio: "I just felt like there were too many things wrong with the criminal justice system and I was really angry.
"That emotion can be a really powerful motivator and I felt like I could be the person to fix these issues in the system."
Ellie's rapist was convicted when she captured him admitting to his crimes by pressing her phone to record in her handbag.
He was jailed for five years and placed on the sex offenders register.
Ellie added: "I want people to know that they are not defined by their pain or trauma.
"Women who've suffered sexual violence often feel like their life is over when that is really not the case."
