A fire at a biomass plant in Fife's been put out

Fire crews successfully put out a blaze at a biomass plant in Fife that had raged on throughout Saturday afternoon.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) had three engines at the Markinch Biomass Plant, near Glenrothes, Fife. It said it received the call at 2.14pm on Saturday.

Nobody has been reported injured.

An SFRS spokesperson previously said it sent three engines from Glenrothes, Methil and Auchtermuchty.

The spokesperson added: "There should be no community impact and there are no reported casualties."

At around 10.30pm on Saturday night, a spokesperson confirmed the service had left the scene.

They said: "We are not there anymore. We left the scene at 4.46pm."

Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
