WW2 bomb successfully detonated

Humberside Police were called to Rawcliffe Road Thursday morning to reports of an unexploded 500lb WW2 bomb

A WW2 bomb that was discovered on Thursday was successfully detonated at 4.22pm this afternoon (Saturday)

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team have been making plans making plans to detonate it over the past 24 hours.

Those affected in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

All travel restrictions have now been lifted with roads clear and open to the public.

A statement issued on behalf of Humberside Emergency Services, said:

“We’d like to thank the members of the public, particularly those that had to be evacuated for safety, for staying clear of the cordon and allowing the team to bring this operation to a safe conclusion.

“Humberside Police would like to take this opportunity to thank all partners involved in the incident for their swift, effective leadership, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team for their efficient, safe detonation.”
