Work on removing a number of dead whales from the Holderness coastline is set to begin, after a pod of 10 mammals washed up on Christmas Eve.

Testing on several of the whales has now been completed, and the body near to Withernsea South Pier will be removed first.

East Riding Council says it'll be closed for a short period, after large crowds gathered to see the whales on December 24th.

People are being urged to stay away from the animals in the meantime.

The council claims its had reports of people "getting close to the animals, touching them and even climbing on them."

They say what has happened is a tragedy and are asking people to respect the whales.
