Women across Lincolnshire and Newark have revealed their concerns about the darker nights
Many say they fear sexual harassment or intimidation
Women across Lincolnshire and Newark have been telling us about their fears over possible sexual harassment or intimidation if they go out alone during the darker nights
A UK wide survey showed 2 thirds of women had those concerns
It means many are afraid to exercise alone in the evening.
We spoke to Kate Trollone - a coach with Pink Ladies Running Club in Lincoln about the issue.
It doesn't stop us but it does affect what we choose to do
They've been going since 2010 but she says it seems more difficult now.
"We used to be able to run in a lot more areas."
"I don't risk taking the group somewhere where it's not that well light because of safety."
"Because of the risk of tripping or falling over - you want to feel comfortable and if it's well lit we do."
"It doesn't stop us but it does affect what we choose to do."
"We are a female only group so I'm very concerned that we run in safe areas."
It's not just running at night it's doing anything
"There are less areas we tend to run in when it gets darker."
"We wouldn't run alone at night and it isn't just running it's doing anything."
"You feel that perceived threat that if you go out at the same time maybe you're putting yourself at risk."
"These are changes you wouldn't make in the summer months."
"Myself and some of the ladies I've spoken to who do run alone as well - a lot of them have said they always stick to well lit areas."
"When it's darker they're really quite conscious about changing the times they run and taking a different route."
