The first vaccinations took place today, 10 February 2021 at Hull City Hall.

The facility is being managed by City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP) and will see a team of 30 vaccinators providing up to 1000 vaccinations per day to the most vulnerable groups of people.

GP's are giving the AstraZeneca jab as part of the NHS vaccination programme, the biggest in health service history, has seen more than 10 million people jabbed in England in a matter of weeks.

73 year old Lesley Parker from Barton Upon the Humber was the first of the over 70's category to get the vaccine.

Last week the government announced that over 10 million doses of vaccine had been administered to the population since 8 December 2020. In our region alone over a quarter of a million doses of vaccine have been delivered to those in the cohorts identified by the JCVI.

CHCP Chief Executive, Andrew Burnell, said: “We are very proud to be playing our part in the national effort to protect people from this virus. I’d like to thank everyone involved in setting up the vaccination centre in Hull; it shows the power of partnership and co-operation in the fight against Covid-19 and I hope this spirit can continue once things start to improve.”

The venue joins York Askham Bar park and ride in our region and a list of over 100 other large vaccination centres across the country.
