UPDATE: Shooting At Hull Mcdonald's Car Park
Police investigating the incident have made a sixth arrest and are still hunting the gunmen.
Police investigating a shooting in the car park of Mcdonald's at St Andrews Quay in Hull over the weekend have arrested a sixth person.
Four shots were fired at a parked car on Saturday. Two people - who were inside the vehicle that was shot at but weren't hurt - were arrested at the scene although have now been released on bail.
A manhunt is still underway for the gunmen and targeted searches in the west Hull area has been taking place. It's led to the arrests of an additional four people but the arrests are said to be for unconnected offences.
Officers are today (Monday 4 January) still searching a number of houses in the west Hull area and are appealing for the two suspects to come forward - issuing a warning to them that they will continue to disrupt their daily lives until they are caught.
Superintendent Darren Downs, said:
“Targeted searches continue in the West Hull area and we have very good evidence to say who the two offenders are.
“We will continue to target and disrupt their daily lives until they are caught. Police scenes of crime pictures have been released to highlight just how close the bullets came to the passengers of the Volkswagen Golf.
“As you can see from the images, the vehicle was hit by four bullets, shattering windows, damaging the bonnet, doors and taillight. Whilst the VW Golf was parked up in a space within the McDonald’s car park, bullets were discharged from a firearm from a travelling vehicle driving past the McDonald’s Restaurant. From our forensic analysis at the scene both cars were no further away from one-another than six feet, the shots were targeted to the VW Golf car and for that reason I am certain the bullets were intended and directed towards the individuals within the car.
“The effect this incident has had on the community has been vast. Officers are working around the clock to find these two men. We are searching all known addresses, all associates, family members, and friends’ homes. If we believe they are harbouring our offenders, they will be arrested too.
“The two people who were initially arrested have been released from police custody unconditionally, a third person has been interviewed and released with a caution and three other people remain in police custody and are currently being interviewed on unrelated matters.
“There is no further danger to the public, we strongly believe the shots were fired following a dispute between two groups of individuals, but until the offenders are brought into custody, we are uncertain what the dispute is about.
“I would like my message to get to the two men involved, ‘we are after you, we are going to continue disrupting your lives, disturb, interview and search your families’ homes. We will not stop until you are found or you hand yourself in to the police".
