UPDATE: Hull Murder Victim Named As David Rylands

He was stabbed on the foot bridge between Selby Street and Arthur Street last night.

Detectives investigating the death of a man on Selby Street in Hull have named him as 46-year-old David Rylands.

A Post Mortem is taking place to confirm his cause of death.

Police began investigating following a call at around 8pm last night, reporting a victim with life threatening injuries following an assault on the footbridge between Selby Street and Arthur Street.

He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary, but died a short time later.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Matt Baldwin who is leading the murder investigation said:

“Mr Rylands was stabbed on the foot bridge by a male offender who fled the scene following the assault.

“At this time it is not clear what the motive was for the attack, but it is being treated as an isolated incident.

“A team of Detectives are carrying out a large number of lines of enquiry including house to house visits, CCTV investigation and forensic enquiries.

“To date the response from the public has been good, but I would urge anyone who was in the area at around 8pm to get in touch. Likewise anyone with information no matter how small about Mr Rylands murder are urged to call 101 quoting log 492 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
