University of Hull considers pandemic’s impact as students receive A-Level results today
Thousands of students will be opening their results across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire
The University of Hull says it’s considering the pandemic’s impact as students get their A-level results today.
UCAS says school leavers faced tougher GCSE grading after Covid and should be met with understanding by universities.
Sarah Whitteker is the director of recruitment at the University of Hull - she says they're taking on board the effects of the pandemic.
Sarah said:
"There has perhaps been a little bit of impact on where grade boundaries have ended up sitting, and I think there has been slight grade inflation, but the sector takes that into account in terms of offer making and setting entry requirements for courses.
"There will be those as well who have maybe not quite achieved the results that they were looking for. I think the really important thing to bear in mind is that there are so many opportunities for students who have maybe not achieved what they were expecting.
"Most universities will have a huge range of courses available through clearing, and they will be looking to help and support students with identifying the best course and the best uni for them.
"That kind of facilitation of choice is definitely there for students.
"When results are published, that's when students can look online and see which universities have which courses available and they can get in touch with us by telephone, speak to one of our very friendly people that we have on the phones to talk 'em through the process."
