Two arrested after police chase stolen car through Scunthorpe

Two men have been arrested after police spotted a stolen vehicle in Scunthorpe yesterday afternoon (Monday, 1 September).

At around 1pm, officers from the Roads Policing Team identified the car travelling along the A18 eastbound. When they attempted to pull it over, the driver reportedly failed to stop, sparking a short pursuit.

The vehicle came to a halt on Brigg Road, where it’s alleged that two people ran from the car in an attempt to escape.

A 19-year-old man was quickly caught nearby and arrested on suspicion of stealing a motor vehicle, six counts of attempted burglary, and two counts of burglary.

Another 19-year-old man was found shortly after near a local business premises. He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle, use of criminal property, six counts of attempted burglary, and two counts of burglary.

Both men remain in police custody.
