Three people have been found guilty of the murder of a man in Hull.
On Sunday March 12th emergency services were called out to Bathurst Street where a man was found with serious injuries to his face and head- Lee Rhoades died shortly after.
At Hull Crown Court a Jury returned a guilty verdict for 33-year-old Lee Hailstone of Bathurst Street, 25-year-old Keeran Edge of Hull and 23-year-old Amie Kehoe of Blisland Close.
They'll be sentenced next month.
Toni Hodgson, aged 31, of Boulevard, Hull was also charged with assisting an offender. She pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, admitting that she assisted Hailstone, Edge and Kehoe following the brutal attack of Lee.
The post-mortem examination concluded the cause of death as multiple injuries inflicted to Lee's body, repeatedly over a three-day period.
A third man, Garry Harris, aged 24, from Hull was also arrested and charged with murder, he has been acquitted by the jury and has now been released.
Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) Detective Superintendent Al Curtis, leading the investigation into Lee’s murder, said:
“The unforgiveable and horrendous actions of Hailstone, Edge and Kehoe, resulted in Lee losing his life after being brutally tortured.
“Lee had his life cut short by the people he trusted and called his friends. Hailstone, Edge and Kehoe preyed on Lee’s vulnerabilities before subjecting him to a series of horrific assaults.
“This has been a long and complex investigation and hours of CCTV footage were trawled in the initial weeks to establish our suspects. Once Edge, Kehoe and Hodgson were identified as our main suspects, we then had the task of locating them and bringing them in for questioning.
“I am pleased the jury has reached this verdict following the hard work by the investigating officers within our Major Crime Team to build a strong evidential case against them.
“We will always do everything we can to seek justice for those who come to harm at the hands of another, and to ensure those who commit the crime are held to account for their actions.”
