Teenager Falls From Humber Bridge

The search for the 16-year-old girl has now been called off.

Emergency services have called off the search for a 16-year-old girl in the Humber Estuary.

She fell from the Humber Bridge earlier.

Police, the coastguard and a search and rescue helicopter were all involved in the search for the teenager that lasted for around three hours.

Police have told us they were called out just before 9am as the teenager was threatening to harm herself at the bridge.

They say when they got there she was on the wrong side of the railings and then fell into the water below.

A police spokesperson said:

"Humberside Police were called at 0852hrs today with concern for safety for a 16-year-old girl who was threatening to harm herself at the Humber Bridge.

Police resources were deployed to the bridge were the girl was the wrong side of the railings, before leaving the bridge into the water below.

Emergency services are in attendance trying to locate the girl."
