Tattooists across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire have told us they're seeing huge numbers of people paying to get rid of them despite the high cost of living.

A study of a thousand people UK wide found that 4 in 10 are rethinking their tattoos

While some people love having them others change their mind over things like family reaction.

Other reasons given include the fact they're upside down, spelt wrong or just going out of fashion.

It can cost hundreds of pounds and take years

We spoke to Laura Cherrington from the Redeem tattoo removal clinic in Hull about the issue.

She told us: "It can cost hundreds of pounds by the time they finish and take a number of years."

"It isn't a quick easy fix as many people think - three or four treatments and it's gone."

"That really isn't the case."

"It's surprising given the climate at the moment with finances and everybody struggling that people are still wanting and paying to get tattoos removed."

It is distressing for them

"That's whether they want a cover up or a total regret and they just want it gone."

"We've had a number of clients who've had a tattoo done and they've maybe had a cover up to try and disguise and hide that - that hasn't worked."

"It is distressing for them - they've made a mistake and that mistake is just getting bigger and bigger."
