People across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire are being urged to support local businesses but The Federation of Small Businesses.

It's as 77 firms across Yorkshire and the Humber filed for administration in the first half of this year, compared to 61 businesses in the first half of 2022 - around a 25%increase.

We're hearing rising costs combined with changing consumer habits have made conditions too difficult for many firms.

Paula Gouldthorpe from the Federation of Small Businesses in the Humber says we need to remember the human side of business:

"The whole issue around wellbeing and the impact it has on people's lives is unbelievable. I think we forget that sometimes.

"We see a shop we see that it's got goods - but we forget there's people behind those.

She has this advice if you are struggling:

"Don't be on your own, please call out, please get in touch with someone - perhaps a third party expert - perhaps a finance expert or business support at the local authority. Do not leave it too late.

It's hoped the Humber Street Sesh taking place later this weekend will help draw the crowds:

"It could be a third of their income for the whole year because it's such a big event with lots of people.

"It's really important we do get out there and support them, and have a really good time."
