Space rocket lands in Hull
The 72ft replica rocket is on display alongside fun activities for families.
A giant rocket is on show at Queen Victoria Square until Monday 21 August in the hope of drawing in young people and inspiring them with the possibilities of space.
It's one of ten locations around the country to be part of the UK Space Agency's 'Space for Everyone' tour, highlighting the diverse range of career opportunities available in the space industry.
Matt Archer, Director of Launch at the UK Space Agency said: "The space sector is diverse and requires people from all backgrounds and with a variety of skills – many not traditionally associated with it.
"The tour proves you don’t have to be a rocket scientist, or even an astronaut, as there are a host of talents needed to bring space closer to our daily lives and improve our understanding of this critical part of the environment for the benefit of the planet and its people."
Entry to the exhibition is free, offering families an all-important chance to take part in educational activities during the summer holidays without needing to pay out.
The event features a virtual reality view of what a rocket launch from the UK looks like, along with the chance to learn about the role of satellites and other interactive activities.
Christina Smith, from Space Hub Yorkshire said: "There are over 400 space-related companies operating in Yorkshire right now. The area is becoming more and more broad, including engineering and communications.
"I love speaking to young people who have questions about space, about how big satellites are, how many there are, how far away they we've gone and what all the different planets are like."
The exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm on the weekend, and between 10am and 3pm on Monday.
