A man has been charged with multiple driving offences after police stopped a vehicle suspected to be linked to a wanted individual in Scunthorpe.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:15am yesterday, (29 September), on Cottage Beck Road.

Officers initiated a stop after identifying the vehicle, and subsequent checks revealed a series of driving-related offences.

The driver, Christopher Smith, 34, of Cole Street, Scunthorpe, was found to be disqualified from driving, operating the vehicle without a valid licence or insurance, and was also allegedly using fraudulent registration documents.

The vehicle was seized at the scene due to the lack of valid documentation and insurance.

Smith has been formally charged with:

  • Driving without insurance
  • Driving whilst disqualified
  • Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
  • Fraudulent use of a registration document

He was remanded into custody and appeared at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court this morning, (30 September).

A spokesperson for the Roads Policing team said the stop was part of their ongoing work to remove uninsured and disqualified drivers from the roads.
