The safety cordon put in place following reports of suspected explosive materials being found inside a property on Watts Road in Beverley has now been lifted.

In the early hours of this morning (Saturday 30 August) Humberside Police said residents are now able to safely return home.

Officers say enquiries continue and a scene guard remains in place around the property to allow officers to establish the "full circumstances around the report".

A 27-year-old man who was arrested inside the property in connection with the report remains in custody assisting officers with the ongoing investigation at this time.

Police are thanking residents and those in the local area for their continued patience, assistance and understanding whilst all precautions were taken.
