RNLI crews will pay tribute to a manager who died three weeks after a fire at his home in East Yorkshire.

Steve Medcalf was rescued from the blaze in Withernsea on the 20 November, and was taken to hospital.

Humberside Fire and Rescue say he came out of a coma, but died in the presence of his family on Monday.

RNLI crews in Norther Yorkshire will hold a minute's applause on Sunday in celebration of his life.

In a post on social media, RNLI Withernsea said: "Steve was a former crew, helm, duty launch authority and before his untimely death, he was our lifeboat operations manager here at RNLI Withernsea.

"This Sunday at 1000am, the crews pagers will sound in honour of him and this will be followed by a minute of clapping in celebration of his life.

"Friends, family and former crew members are all welcome to join us in this celebration, taking place at the station on Southcliff Road Withernsea for a 1000am prompt start."
