It's for a project in May this year by Puffins Galore!

There is a call for artists in the East Riding to help decorate large blank Puffin sculptures to attract visitors.

40 of them will land at towns and attractions from Flamborough to Spurn Point as well as surrounding villages.

Organisers Puffins Galore! is seeking artists with experience in responding to a similar brief and producing artwork which is visually exciting and robust enough for the public domain.

The project launched in May 2022 and hopes to bring visitors to the East Riding. Each Puffin will be uniquely designed and decorated to tell a different story of the East coast, of the county’s local wildlife, of green energy and climate change.

Rick Welton, Co-Director of Puffins Galore!, said:

“Now that many Hull and East Riding businesses and institutions have joined our flock of sponsors with 34 of our 40 Puffins fully funded, we are delighted to invite artists from around the region to submit their designs.

"This is an exceptional opportunity for Yorkshire artists to play a significant part in an event that we are sure will create huge excitement all around the East Riding and beyond. Its popularity will ensure that the creativity of every artist taking part will be showcased to a mass audience as well as connecting them to other artists, businesses and the wider community.

“The beautiful Puffin sculptures are 1.5m tall and offer an inspirational, blank 3D canvas for artists to have fun with and work their creative magic on.

“Sponsors will be able to choose their unique design from our artists’ gallery as of 21 February.”

The Artists’ Brief and Submission Form is available on the Puffins Galore! website at www.puffinsgalore.co.uk

All designs must be submitted by 12pm on Monday 14th February 2022.
