Police Question Teenager over Howden Blaze

Police investigating a fire which destroyed Howden Cricket Pavilion are questioning a 13 year old boy.

A 13 year-old boy is being questioned by police investigating the suspected arson of Howden cricket pavilion.

The blaze happened on Monday at the Ashes Playing Fields.

Chief Inspector Kirsty Tock said:

  • “The media coverage of this incident has prompted a suspect to come forward. I would like to thank the community and the local press for their coverage of the fire and would now ask that they allow the police to carry out a full investigation.*

“Speculation via social media has been intense following the incident and I would ask for people to please respect that there is an investigation underway and avoid rumour and hearsay.”

Police Crime Scene Investigators and Fire Investigation Officers from Humber Fire and Rescue continue to work together to investigate the circumstances of the fire. Anyone who witnessed the incident that has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 499 of 06/04/2015.
