Police arrest man after two-car collision on M62 in East Yorkshire

Three people are thought to have been injured

Police are questioning a man on suspicion of drink and drug driving following a collision involving two cars on the M62 in East Yorkshire.

Two cars were involved this morning between junctions 38 and 37, with three people thought to have been injured.

Humberside Police have issued the following statement: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following reports of a road traffic collision between two cars on the M62 this morning (Friday 24 May).

"We were called at around 7.50am to reports that a blue Mercedes and a black Volvo had been in a collision on the M62 Westbound between J38 North Cave and J37 Howden.

"The driver of the Volvo, the driver of the Mercedes and the passenger of the Mercedes are all thought to have sustained injuries to which the extent is currently unknown,

"A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst over the specific drug limit, driving whilst unfit through drink, driving whilst unfit through drugs, dangerous driving, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

"He remains in our custody whilst our enquiries continue."
