A teenager has been injured after being assaulted in Queen Victoria Square in Hull.

The incident happened between 5.30pm and 6pm on Sunday.

The 14-year-old sustained swelling and bruising to his eye and cuts and bruises across his body in the incident.

Detective Inspector Jason Gourley said

“Following the incident we arrested a 14-year-old boy, he has subsequently been released as we continue our enquiries.

“This type of incident is thankfully rare in our area, and I would appeal for those involved, or anyone who knows who they are, to come to us with that information.

“This looks to be an isolated incident and the boy’s injuries were not of a life-threatening nature. However, we will not tolerate this type of behaviour by these few young people in our communities and will do everything we can to find those responsible and deal with them appropriately.”
